The sweeping roof is a 2800Te steel structure with a standing seam aluminium sheet. It is made up of long span fan trusses which cantilever approx 32m past the supports and are approximately 11.5m deep at their largest point, it is a free standing structure spanning 160m.Two arches either side of the roof help to create the roofs undulating shape.

The Aquatics Centre will have a capacity of 17,500 during the Games, reducing to a maximum of 2,500, with the ability to add 1000 for major events in legacy, and provide two 50m swimming pools and a diving pool, facilities that London does not have at present.
